De Shaun Bennett is GAPSA's 2016-2017 Chair for Student Activities. He is a dual degree Masters student at the university of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, Education Policy program and Fels Institute of Government Masters of Public Administration program. De Shaun is a recent graduate of Morehouse College where he obtained a B.A. in Sociology with Mathematics minor and originates from Little Rock, AR.
As a Gates Millennium Scholar, De Shaun has managed to obtain numerous experiences. He currently serves as the Chair of Social Activities for the Graduate and Professional Student Assembly, and recently served as the Vice President of Communications for the Black Graduate and Professional Students Assembly, as well as a representative for GAPSA. De Shaun was the Southwest Region Youth of the Year for Boys and Girls Club of America, Overcoming Adversity award winner for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and Procurement Analyst at Friendship Public Charter Schools through the UNCF Walton Education Reform Fellowship Program. De Shaun was recently selected as a Woodrow Wilson - Rockefeller Brothers Fund Fellow. He aspires to obtain his Ph.D. in Economics in the hope of becoming a researching practitioner, focusing on social and economic development.
