Monica Hanza, Chair for Communications
M.S.W. Candidate, Social Work, University of Pennsylvania, School of Policy and Practice
B.A., English Literature, Purdue University
Monica Hanza is GAPSA's 2016-2017 Chair for Communication. Monica Hanza is excited to serve the Penn graduate and professional student communities. Last year, Monica served on the GAPSA Communications Committee and was a member of the General Assembly. This year, as she steps up as the GAPSA Chair for Communications as well as the Chair of Communications for the School of Social Policy and Practice, she hopes to more actively collaborate among the G12 to further increase awareness of the many opportunities, events, and resources at Penn.
Monica formerly graduated from Purdue University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a minor in Art History. She then served as an AmeriCorps member for two years doing environmental advocacy work and literacy education.
After an incredible road trip west, she settled in San Francisco, where she became the Program Manager for Junior Achievement of the Bay Area, and then moved on to become the Program Director for Summer Search Silicon Valley.
Monica hopes for next year to create a dynamic and creative communication committee to continue to build upon the work of the previous GAPSA Executive Board and further increase the knowledge of resources, opportunities, and communities among Penn graduate and professional students.
Fun Fact: Monica loves road trips and has racked up many miles and many stories, including once being picked up by Bill Murray.
