Haley Pilgrim, Chair for IDEAL Council

  • Ph.D. Student, Sociology, University of Pennsylvania, School of Arts and Sciences

  • B.S., Education and Social Policy, Northwestern University

Haley Pilgrim is a 3rd year PhD student in Sociology originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan. She graduated in 2014 from Northwestern University with a major in Learning and Organizational Change. There, she was involved on campus as an RA, Peer Inclusion Educator, and executive board member of College Feminists.

Even though she has not been here long, Haley considers Philadelphia her home, in no small part because of the strong community GAPSA has given her. On campus, Haley is also involved as a Fontaine Fellow, Co-President of the Black Graduate and Professional Student Assembly, co-founder of the Graduate Sociology Society, and a Graduate Associate with College Houses and Academic Services. She is also the graduate liaison for the Trustee Academic Policy Committee.

Haley is excited for her third year in GAPSA. Having been on the equity and access committee her first year and finance committee the second, she is looking forward to bringing this experience to the first year of the IDEAL council. It is her great honor to join this council alongside some of the most remarkable and dedicated leaders and activists. It is an exciting and empowering time to be a part of IDEAL.

Haley enjoys green tea, golf, and Insecure. Last year she founded the grad ski club, but she's better on the water. You can stay in contact with her on twitter @HaleyGPilgrim.
