Paradorn (Joe) Rummaneethorn

President

School of Engineering and Applied Sciences - SEAS

Paradorn (Joe) Rummaneethorn (he/him) is a fourth year Ph.D. student in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and part of the Center for Subcellular Genomics. Joe grew up in Bangkok, Thailand before coming to the U.S. to pursue his undergraduate studies at Princeton University, where he graduated summa cum laude in Chemical and Biological Engineering, with minors in Biology and Materials Science. His academic interest is in bridging engineering and medicine for the development of new disease therapeutics and diagnostics technologies to advance the frontier of healthcare.

Beyond the lab, Joe is active in student government and organizations. Joe served as co-chair of the Chemical Engineering Graduate Association (ChEGA), president of the American Chemical Society (ACS) Biochemical Technology (BIOT) Division Mid-Atlantic Chapter, and president of the Graduate Student Engineering Government (GSEG). He hopes that these experiences, along with the desire to do good for his peers, will help with his GAPSA leadership.

Joe is honored to serve as the GAPSA president in this unique year alongside a very strong executive board team. Among his many goals, he wants GAPSA to be a hub of community building, and for GAPSA to continue to build bridges connecting students to each other and the various resources/opportunities at Penn. But beyond all else, GAPSA is united under one common goal: to help contribute to a (more) positive Penn experience for you in any way! 🙂

Outside of GAPSA, Joe is also committed to excellence in teaching, serving as a Graduate Fellow for Teaching Excellence at Penn's Center for Teaching and Learning. For fun, he loves to travel, try/cook new foods, play video games, read a good fiction, and learn about people (read: you!).
