Miriam Archibong is your 2015-16 GAPSA Vice Chair of Communication.  As Vice Chair of Communications, Miriam is committed to keeping the Penn graduate community informed, engaged, and involved with GAPSA. Miriam is a third year law student at the University of Pennsylvania.  During Miriam's time at Penn Law, she completed a White House spring semester internship with the Council on Environmental Quality, and a fall semester internship with the Legislation and Appeals Unit of the Philadelphia Law Department.  Before law school, Miriam served as a White House summer intern for the Office of Public Engagement, and one of three Fulbright research fellows in Singapore. Prior to the Fulbright, Miriam was a Teach For America high school history teacher in Atlanta, Georgia, where she was on the Atlanta Public School's Textbook Adoption Committee, and an Edward E. Ford Fellow.

As student government association (SGA) president of Spelman College, Miriam awarded the most scholarships in the SGA's history, and was named Woman of the Year by both Spelman College and Morehouse College. As SGA president of Henry W. Grady high school, Miriam lobbied the Atlanta Public Schools Board of Education for the first government funded vegetarian lunch line in the United States.  The success of the vegetarian lunch line was an answer on Jeopardy–twice!

Miriam currently holds a master of Education Policy and Management from Harvard University, and a bachelor of arts in political science from Spelman College.  Miriam is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and is a longterm resident of Atlanta, Georgia.

Fun Fact: Miriam has sky dived from 14,000 ft, has a cockapoo named Tokyo who was born the day President Obama was elected in 2008, and has traveled to 17 countries and counting!
