Ruiyuan Ma (Rui) is a fourth year Doctoral student in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also the Vice Chair for Student Programs. Prior to pursuing a Doctoral degree, Rui got his Bachelor degree in Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology, and a Master degree from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. At Penn, he is interested in energy problems, and has conducted interesting researches in micro/nano-scale heat transfer. Rui is from Henan Province, China, and likes to read and swim in his spare time.
As Vice Chair for Student Programs, Rui plans to improve the graduate student experience at Penn by organizing on and off campus non-alcohol events. He will also focus on adding more diversity in Student Programs’ events to satisfy more students’ needs. Ultimately, he hopes to make the graduate student's experience at Penn more enjoyable and fun.
