Vice President of Advocacy

Joelle Eliza Lingat

School of Social Policy and Practice

They/She

Hello everyone! My name is Joelle (they/she), and I am a first-year MSW/NPL dual-degree student in the School of Social Policy and Practice. I come to Penn after about five years of practicing law because of my interest in honing my skills as a direct services practitioner advocating for justice on both an individual and a systemic level. I am honored to serve the graduate and professional student body through GAPSA, and thank you all for trusting me to take on this role.

Tell us one sentence about what brought you to GAPSA

I became involved in GAPSA because of my passion for social justice and my belief that we need to do the work internally, both within ourselves and within our Penn community before we can do that necessary work in the world.

Give a brief blurb about your position and high-level goals for the year

I have the privilege of serving as the Vice President of Advocacy and I hope to empower my fellow students to pursue the initiatives that are most relevant and pressing to our community. I aim to be a conduit for student voices and am eager to amplify our collective calls.
